BOARD MEETING

Eagles

April 17, 2024


The meeting was called to order at 12:30 pm by League Coordinator Jim Goodman.


ROLL CALL:

Board Members: Jim Goodman, Melissa Doe, Kent Bruinsma, Ben Borgen, Mike Ewen, Joe Koerner, Ernie Hain, Randy Stocker, Chuck Brand, Bill Gosse, Bill Sutter and Bobette Pronk.


GUEST’S : Bill VonWald and Joe Kluck


SECRETARY’S REPORT: The Secretary's report for the March 21, 2024 meeting was emailed in pdf format prior to the Board meeting for members to review. Motion made by Ben Borgen, seconded by Kent Bruinsma and approved to accept the Secretary's Report.


TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer's report for the March 21, 2024 meeting was emailed in pdf format prior to the Board meeting for members to review. Ernie Hain reported the following amounts: checking account $12,080.36, designated funds $1,795.35 and nondesignated funds $4,540.36. Ernie also reported that all sponsor fees are now in. Motion made by Ben Borgen, seconded by Kent Bruinsma and approved to accept the Treasurer's Report.


SAFETY & RULES REPORT:

Bill Sutter brought to the Board to change the bylaws under Rules/Safety Director to read the following. The Rules/Safety Director shall annually review the latest SSUSA documentation, and recommend the RMSS differences prior to the start of each season. The League Coordinator or Rules/Safety Director may call for a committee meeting at anytime during the year if needed.  Bill will bring this back to the next months meeting to vote on this change.  The rules for the Casual division will be the same as the Competitive division.


SPECIAL ASSISTANT REPORT:

Ben Borgen reported everything is set for the D&R Pool Tournament April 18-20. Twins tickets for April and May have all been spoken for. Ben discussed the South Troy Youth Group auction on April 28 and if anyone had any items for the auction they could contact him.


PUBLIC RELATIONS REPORT:

Melissa Doe had nothing new to report.


WEBSITE REPORT:

Joe Koerner reported that he is switching the website to the summer format and schedule. He will be working on the draft list as registrations come into Ernie.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Casual Division all ready to go for Session 1.


ACTION ITEMS:

1. D&R Pool volunteers are all set.

2. Session one draft will be April 24. All players have to be signed up by April 17 in order to get drafted April 24.

3. Managers for Session One are: Shorewood Senior Campus, Bill Gosse; Edward Jones, Casey Doe; Black's Automotive, Chuck Brand; Thrivent/Bob's Construction, Tom Kowalewski; Eagles, Ed Butler; C&M Screenprinting, Jim Chihak; Prime Time Health, Joe Koerner; Charlie's Eatery & Pub, Deb Warnke. Motion made by Bobette Pronk, seconded by Ben Borgen and approved to accept the managers for Session One.

4. Randy Stocker gave a presentation he is going to give to the Sertoma orgnaization about RMSS.

5. Randy Stocker also reported we are set for June 26 to have the Sequoia South band play at our picnic. The sound permit has been secured also. Is also planning to have a All Star Softball game

June 26 at Rochesterfest from 6:00-8:00 pm. There will also be a Family Fun night on Saturday night June 29 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

6. Bobette Pronk reported she will be sending out a email for volunteers to help with fields at the RYFSA complex May 18-19. RMSS will get $1000 for working that weekend.


NEW BUSINESS:

1. Rules and Procedures Update to the Monday/Wednesday players was brought up and agreed we stay with what we have currently in our bylaws.

2. Jim encouraged all managers to read the bylaws concerning the Game Day Managers Meeting before the draft next Wednesday.

3. Joe Koerner and Joe Kluck will get the Session One draft list to the managers before next Wednesday, April 24.

4. There was discussion on how many balls we have for the upcoming season. Dave Zemke has the womens 11 inch balls and Kent Bruinsma has the others.


Next board meeting is May 15.

Motion made by Chuck Brand and seconded by Kent Bruinsma to adjourn at 2:10 pm. Motion approved.
